LOCATION: Kīholo Bay, Kona, Hawai'i

Hui Aloha Kīholo’s Mission is to protect, perpetuate, and enhance the cultural and natural landscape of the Kīholo Bay area through collaborative management and active community stewardship.
SUMMARY:
As a Hoa ʻĀina, you’ll be frontline guardian of Kīholo’s natural and cultural splendor. Working full-time outdoors, you’ll protect resources, enhance ecosystems, engage community, maintain facilities, and perpetuate the vibrant culture of Kīholo.
Duties include:
Represent Hui Aloha Kīholo with community, partners, and visitors
Assist in educational events and oversee camping permits
Monitor marine life, conservation efforts, and visitor activities
Uphold safety protocols and report illegal activities
Maintain clean trails, roads, facilities, beaches, and campsites
Remove invasive species and plant natives
Collaborate on special events and community initiatives
Pay Rate: $18-$20/hr
Travel Required
Occasional travel within North Kona region may be required.
Key Requirements
U.S. Citizenship
Favorable background check
Able to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions
Valid state driver's license
Willingness to work weekends and use mobile applications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical ability to work outdoors for extended periods
Reliable transportation
Desired Qualifications:
Familiar with Kīholo and coastal ecosystems
Knowledge of local history and culture
Ability to communicate in pidgin English, American English, and some Hawaiian
Strong swimming and snorkeling experience
Experience in coastal fishing
Physical Demands
Work involves outdoor activities and may require heavy lifting and strenuous exertion.
Work Environment
Outdoor work environment with potential exposure to rough terrain, inclement weather, and wildlife.
