Hale Hoa ʻĀinA

After years of collaboration with Hawaii State Parks, we finally made a breakthrough and received access to our first ever headquarters! The house fronting Kīholo bay (formerly belonging to Loretta Lynn), is now included in our Curatorship Agreement. We have named it Hale Hoa ʻĀina, in recognition of our hoa ʻāina, or friends of the land.

Long-overdue maintenance totaling $40,000 is required in order to utilize Hale Hoa ʻĀina. Mahalo to our supporters who have already graciously offered their time, expertise and resources.

WHAT WILL THE $40,000 BE USED FOR?

This first phase focuses on deferred maintenance for safety and security to start in early 2020.

• Replace broken windows - $3,000

• Fix the deck railing - $5,000

• Rebuild the access stairway - $7,000

WHY GIVE?

For twelve years Hui Aloha Kīholo has protected and enhanced the cultural and natural landscape of the Kīholo Bay area through collaborative management and active community stewardship. For those twelve years we’ve worked out of living rooms, classrooms, the back of trucks, and mostly on the ground at Kīholo, but we have never had a structure to call home. Giving Hui a physical home at Kīholo will allow us to better educate visitors about Kīholo, support conservation of natural resources, and manage camping.
