Scott is a retired oceanographer and natural/cultural resources manager with over 40 years of federal employment on Oahu and other Hawaii islands. While growing up on the Big Island, he visited Kiholo while camping, diving, hiking and fishing expeditions.

Over the last few decades, he has experienced Kiholo primarily during stays at the Porteus family beach house, and developed substantial knowledge and appreciation of the very special history and resources of this coastal area. His personal goal is to take part in effective management and preservation of the Kiholo environment.
